Motor Neurone Disease (MND)

Motor Neuron Disease (MND) is a progressive neurological condition manifested by progressive muscle weakness throughout the body and can result in loss of movement, speech and swallowing and difficutly breathing thus affecting your ability to perform daily tasks.

As the condition progesses, the role of the occupational therapist is to assist with maintaining an optimal level of independence, quality of life and dignitiy as it becomes more difficult to perform these tasks.

Occupational therapists can assist with education on adapted techniques or assistive devices, home modifications, counselling and palliative therapy as the condition progresses while adapting treatment in response to your changing needs.
